Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam is concerned about the an armed conflict in Ukraine and pays particular attention to the situation of the Vietnamese community in the country, Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Thi Thu Hang said on February 25.
Hang made the statement while answering questions from Vietnamese and foreign journalists about Vietnam’s reaction to recent tense developments in Ukraine and the protection of its citizens.
She called on the parties concerned to exercise restraint, to respect the Charter of the United Nations and the fundamental principles of international law, not to use force, to protect people and to continue dialogue to seek peaceful solutions, thus helping to ensure peace, security, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.
Vietnam demands that the safety of lives, property as well as legal rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens and businesses in Ukraine be assured, she stressed.
The spokesperson informed that Vietnamese representative offices in Ukraine and national authorities are coordinating closely and are ready to implement plans to protect citizens./.
