DUNCANVILLE, Texas (AP) — Police shot and killed a man who fired shots at a Dallas-area gymnasium where about 150 children were attending day camp, authorities said.

No children, staff or officers were injured in the shooting, which occurred around 8:45 a.m. at Duncanville Fieldhouse, police said.

The man entered the grounds lobby with a handgun and fired during a discussion with a staff member, Duncanville Deputy Police Chief Matthew Stogner said.

The shooter then attempted to enter a classroom containing children, but the door was locked, Stogner said. He fired a shot in the door, Stogner said. The man then proceeded to the gymnasium, which also contained children, at which point Stogner said police arrived and fired at the man in a gunfight.

Police have not yet identified the person or revealed a motive.

Stogner said police arrived within two minutes of being contacted.

All of the children who attended the camp were moved to a nearby recreation center to be reunited with their parents.
