A civil society organization, Unity Advocacy Group, has urged Nigerians to support the military in its quest to fight off the bandits, rather than mourning feelings that could weaken the morale of the troops.
The group made the call in response to attempts to downplay recent army raids on bandits.
Its official, Ifeanyi Aigbedion, said in a statement on Wednesday that what Nigeria needed to emerge from the current security challenges was support and cooperation with the Nigerian armed forces.
According to Aigbedion, the leadership of the Armed Forces has never hidden its support for dialogue as a way out of the challenges.
“The leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces traveled across the country meeting with stakeholders on the need for peace.
“What is needed now is the support and cooperation of the citizens for the armed forces to fulfill their duty to restore peace and order.
“Although not speaking on behalf of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, we speak as actors of Project Nigeria who are affected by the situation in the country, we are against any form of innuendo that would further weaken the morale of the troops,” especially when they come from high places. personalities.
“The Armed Forces troops are our brothers and sisters, we must not expose them to the enemies of the country.
“They have made enough sacrifices in terms of human and material resources. They need our support, ”he said.
