Man robs 7-Eleven at Old Orchard Beach claiming he was armed

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Old Orchard Beach police on Sunday were reviewing video and other evidence following an armed robbery at 7-Eleven at 219 Saco Ave. Saturday night.

Police Captain David Hemingway said a man entered the store, claimed he had a gun, demanded money and threatened the seller.

“The suspect obtained an undisclosed sum of cash from the register and immediately fled the store on foot,” Hemingway said in a press release issued at 11 a.m. Sunday. “Police units responded as well as agencies in the area to help with the search. The suspect was not located at this time.

Police were called to the store just before 11.30pm on Saturday February 26.

Hemingway said that in addition to the clerk, a customer was in the store at the time of the theft. No one was hurt.

“It is believed the suspect was alone and may have had a vehicle parked nearby at the time of the incident,” Hemingway said.

He said the suspect was about 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall, slim and wearing blue jeans, a flannel shirt, a hoodie and a long black coat. The suspect wore a black disposable face mask during the encounter and reportedly had tattoos on his face.

“Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Old Orchard Beach Police Department immediately at 207-934-4911,” Hemingway said. “The investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
