Her Majesty calls for a strong posture in the armed forces

As the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) strives to maintain its position as an ever-improving defense institution, a strong position is needed coupled with close collaboration with other government agencies, said declared His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni. Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah yesterday.

Her Majesty delivered the titah during the RBAF’s 61st Anniversary Celebration Grand Parade at Muara Naval Base, Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), where Her Majesty also commanded the Royal’s 39 Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Squadron Brunei Air Force (RBAirF).

Earlier in the titah, the monarch noted that he has been closely following the development of the RBAF since its inception over six decades ago, including military personnel and asset capabilities, which he said will help him kept his job.

Her Majesty said that as the RBAF drafts its strategic plan based on the Defense White Paper 2021, coupled with Force 2035 and the Force Structure Review, currently being revised as a guide and guidance in accordance with the TEPIDOIL – Training, Equipment, People, Information, Doctrine, Organization, Infrastructure and Logistics Concept, to ensure that the identified initiatives are achieved, immaculate and streamlined planning is required to overcome defects or close existing defective gaps.

Her Majesty also reiterated that when strategizing, the RBAF must have a clear defense posture that is consistent with its capabilities, while reinforcing the whole nation approach, in the context of holistic defence.

“The RBAF must continuously collaborate with relevant government agencies to safeguard the sovereignty of the country, especially our land, sea and air borders,” Her Majesty said.

Considering the readiness of the RBAF to achieve the Force 2035 vision, Her Majesty consented to the establishment of the Gunship Squadron and Intelligence Troop for the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF).

His Majesty also consented to the creation of the position of RBLF Field Commander and the elevation of the Chiefs of Staff of the RBN and RBAirF to the rank of Colonel, on par with the RBLF and the State -joint major.

Meanwhile, Her Majesty said that spiritual strength is as important as physical strength, while expressing her pleasure at the release of the Diamond Jubilee of RBAF Mushaf Al-Quran.

“I am confident that with the pure intention of glorifying Al-Quran, all Muslim staff in RBAF will get blessings, be able to read Al-Quran and make it a daily habit. For Muslims, getting closer to Allah the Almighty through reading the Quran is the ultimate miracle.

“In line with the purpose of empowering security, reading Al-Quran should therefore be practiced to obtain blessings in the form of strength and protection, as well as to prevent complacency in dealing with any misconduct that may harm to the credibility of the RBAF.”

Her Majesty also stressed the Sultanate’s commitment to regional and international security.

“The RBAF has been involved in the International Observer Mission (IMT) since 2004; United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) since 2018; Information Tuition Center since 2013 and International Decommissioning Body since 2019 in the Philippines, as well as the Counter-Terrorism Information Facility in Singapore since 2020.

These missions have enhanced the professionalism of RBAF personnel and enhanced the country’s name.

His Majesty believed that a secure region means a secure Sultanate, allowing national development strategies to be implemented more effectively and efficiently.
