Gunman arrested near Fort Jackson Blvd. after hours of trading | Colombia

The Columbia Police Department (CPD) and Richland County Sheriff’s Department worked to negotiate with a man at a Fort Jackson Blvd. apartment complex.

Marquise Green was identified as the suspect in the incident and arrested. He is charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person and breach of trust with fraudulent intent.

According to CPD, the man refused to leave the apartment. The male suspect surrendered after negotiations and with the safe entry of SWAT members inside. Officers found no weapons on the man.

A male victim told police the suspect pointed a gun at him at the Fort. Jackson Village Apartments after an argument over money then ran into one of the units.

CPD identified the suspect and crisis negotiators liaised with him throughout the situation.

Tenants near the affected area have been considered and asked to temporarily stay away from the area.
