Police in Duncanville, Texas fatally shot a gunman Monday morning after he allegedly entered a day camp, shot through a window and threatened to “shoot the place.” Police said the shooter, Brandon Keith Ned, 42, walked into the lobby of Duncanville Fieldhouse, a sports venue about 10 miles southwest of Dallas, where about 250 children between the ages of 4 and 14 attended camp. After a brief discussion with a member of staff, he fired a shot through a window. Cops were on the scene within two minutes and found the man armed with a handgun in the gymnasium. They “exchanged gunfire” and the man was killed, NBC5 reported. Naomi Rodgers, a counselor at the camp, told NBC5 she was in a room with about 40 children when another staff member came running in and said, “We have an active shooter right now!” She added: “The shooter actually came to our door…and he said if we didn’t let him see who he wanted to see, he was going to shoot the place.” According to the police, no children were injured. Court records indicate that Ned was sentenced to two years in prison in 2011 for manslaughter by intoxicationbut police did not provide details of a possible motive for Monday’s incident.
