Couple suffer ‘terrifying ordeal’ when gunman breaks into their car

Detective Sergeant Crothers said: ‘It was reported that at approximately 2.30am a man, aged 20s, and a woman, aged 20s, pulled into a vehicle in front of business premises in the Galgorm Road area.

“An unknown man, armed with a knife, opened the passenger side door and shouted at the two victims to give him money.

“When the driver tried to move away, the suspect clung to the car, before climbing inside, above the passenger.

“There was an altercation inside the vehicle and the injured man sustained stab wounds to his hand, which required hospital treatment.

“The suspect then fled on foot with a small amount of cash.

“He was described as about 6 feet tall and was wearing a black tracksuit top with a full zip and hood, black tracksuit bottoms, black sneakers and a black baseball cap with a logo on it. He was wearing also a black and camouflage face mask.

“It was a terrifying ordeal for both victims and our investigations are ongoing.

“We ask anyone who may have information, including dash cam or other footage, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1145 05/02/22.”
